The Ironbridge Gorge is a World Heritage Site in the middle of the United Kingdom and is widely acknowledged to be the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. It is most commonly known for the world-famous Iron Bridge, built to cross the river Severn in 1779, but the entire area is scattered with the architectural features of that period and, apart from some modern in-fill buildings, little has changed since those busy days.
I am a local Shropshire photographer who has lived in the Ironbridge Gorge for my entire life and so have a strong empathy with the area. During 2009 I decided to embark on a project to photograph the architectural features and landscape of the Ironbridge Gorge, display them on the John Hallett Photography website and, with each photograph, add some historical or otherwise interesting facts.
The Ironbridge Gorge...exposed is a 'live' project and I have also included a gallery which showcases the photographs from my journeys 'out-and-about' outside of the Ironbridge Gorge. New photographs, photography tutorials and Photoshop tutorials are added regularly so please visit again.
