As someone
who grew up, and still resides, in the Ironbridge Gorge it seemed
fitting that I should dedicate part of my website to images and
information about this historic area.
Actually,
some of you 'more-seasoned' surfers may recognise sections of
the text. That is because it originates from a website that I
launched way back in 1998 called 'Not! the Ironbridge Gorge'.
That site is now closed but fortunately I kept a copy - which
has come in useful now.
The information
and images will constantly evolve - so keep checking back. The
Ironbridge Gorge alters character as the seasons change and I
hope to relect that with my photography.
Now a Unesco
designated World Heritage site, the Ironbridge Gorge comprises
of 5 villages, Ironbridge, Coalport, Coalbrookdale, Jackfield
and Buildwas - each with its own place in the history of the Birthplace
of the Industrial Revolution.
Please visit
the links below to find out more about the history of the communities
that have grown on the banks of the river Severn.
